Crazy things
House mail boxes, the old style ones that are next to the road are generally too small for the majority of letters. We have a bricked in locked mail box, nice and secure built especially for the job. Yet the mail won’t fit in the box, the letters always protruding out, so anyone can come along and pull them back out from the front. Why would you design mail boxes that don’t take the letters?

Because despite the fact that we claim to now be an Independent AUSTRALIAN nation, we still have old fashioned mail boxes designed only for letters based on the British system. Parcels were never meant to be delivered to your mail box; only the card asking you to pick them up at the PO.
